Learn more about OCNS and our mission to shape the future of nursing education.
OCNS was established in 2021 under the proprietorship of doctorally prepared western-trained clinician and faculty, Dr. Michael Ajayi and his wife as co-founder. Together, they registered the college with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and subsequently enlisted the voluntary support of the pioneering board members who assisted to navigate the political, geographical, and multicultural terrain in starting the college.
In 2021, the Kogi State House of Assembly passed the bill for the establishment of the school into law, and it was subsequently signed by the Kogi State governor. The college will run as a private international tertiary institution, under the management of the governing board with the proprietor as the chairman and the Provost as the chief academic officer.
The mission of OCNS is to create a faith-based innovative, caring, and collaborative learning environment where graduates will demonstrate integrity and will be prepared for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, administrators, and leaders. Faculty and students will contribute to the health of all populations through state-of-the-art education, service, and research.
OCNS will be an internationally recognized center of excellence in inquiry, knowledge, and expertise. The institution’s faculty and staff will produce the next generation of leaders empowered and focused on innovative responses to address the challenges of a rapidly changing and culturally diverse world.
